A Short Professional Profile:

I am a lecturer in the Department of History at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, where I contribute to teaching, research, and academic mentorship within the discipline. I hold a PhD in History with a specialisation in Economic History, a field through which I examine the intersections of economy, society, and historical change. My doctoral research, titled Food restriction and Production in Colonial Southwestern Nigeria during the Second World War, explores the dynamics of colonial policy, wartime exigencies, and local responses to food scarcity.

My research interests broadly engage the themes of colonial economic structures, food systems, resource allocation, and the socio-economic impacts of global crises on local communities. I am particularly interested in how African societies navigated and adapted to external pressures imposed by imperial governance and wartime disruptions. Through my work, I aim to contribute to scholarly debates on African economic history while foregrounding indigenous experiences and agency.

In addition to research, I am committed to fostering critical thinking and historical enquiry among students, encouraging rigorous engagement with sources, and promoting interdisciplinary approaches to understanding Africa’s past and its contemporary implications.
